This island is nice, but it
was our least favorite of the 5 we visited. We wanted to go snorkeling,
but weren’t sure where to go. When you walk off the ship, there are a ton
of cab drivers waiting to take you someplace. We told them that we wanted
to go snorkeling and the first person recommended one beach, but the
driver said that wasn’t a good snorkeling beach and suggested Darkwood
Beach instead. We agreed. The fee was $25 for two (one way). When the cab
driver dropped us off, we were practically the only ones there. There was
a small snack bar and umbrella rental place there, but not many people. We
were a little worried about how we were going to get back, but the cab
driver said he would come back at 1pm. More people did come later, so we
didn’t feel so isolated. The snorkeling wasn’t great here – there was
somewhat of a reef there, but not a lot of fish. We headed back over to
the snack bar around 12:45 or so and the cab driver was already there. It
was another $25 to get back to the ship plus we gave him $5 extra for
coming back early (that’s what we told him – but it was really a tip for
coming back!!). We had lunch on the ship and got quick showers and then
went into town to look around. We looked in some of the shops and walked
up to see the church. The shopping is definitely not as good here. There
were tons of places that had exactly the same t-shirts and touristy stuff.
