Barbados Port Information and Shore Excursion Review

Adam McCarthy

The Jolly Roger Pirate Cruise baby! Or, "the Booze Cruise," as it's called. We had the times of our lives. It was ALL young people, free rum punch (50% alcohol) and beer (leave a couple $ for the bar guy). They take you along the coast with great music and people dancing and getting loaded. They made a woman walk the plank for using the men's bathroom. Swing from the ship on a rope for a dip. They take you ashore to a great beach for 30 mins, rent a Sea-Do off a local for $20 Total (not pp) and no more. It rained on the way back so it was even better. If you're travelling with friends you HAVE to go on the Jolly Roger, it was sooo much fun.

Shopping at the docks was pretty good, but no T-shirt deals like you see in other ports (ie, 4 for $10). Get the blue and yellow shuttle bus from the dock to the shopping area for FREE (but leave a tip). The taxis wait at the gate by the dock like vultures, strole right past to the bus. To get to the downtown/better shopping, exit the little dockside mall, go right, and go along the waterfront for about 10-15mins walk and there you are. Some of the best shopping in the Caribbean. There's an excursion on most ships here called "Downtown Shopping" or similar, for $25 or so, but you can manage it on your own. Do not take taxis, take the blue bus for $1.00.
