Coco Cay, Bahamas Port Review

Kelly

I went up on deck to get a look at the island. My first reaction was “this is it?” I don’t know what I was expecting but……Anyway, we enjoyed the quick tender ride over to the island and found ourselves a quiet area on the beach near the aqua park. Everywhere we looked, the water was gorgeous. My friend said the water was too cold for her so she stayed on the beach enjoying the sun. I stayed in the water most of the time. It started to rain a little on us and it was funny to see how many people ran up on the beach when it started to rain. I remember a lady telling someone to get out of the water because “you might get wet”. Several of us that stayed in the water got a laugh out of that one. There was no thunder or lightning, just a little rain shower – it didn’t last long.

There were a few jellyfish in the water but big enough that you could see them. I saw one that washed up on shore that had to be 6” across at least! I had never seen them that large. I only saw 2 the entire time though. We finally decided to find the BBQ lunch that I had heard about being so good. We obviously picked a bad time to go get lunch. I don’t know how long we had to wait in line but each of the three grill areas had long lines. The food wasn’t too bad but then again I was starving by the time we got to the grill area. They were serving hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, ribs, macaroni and cheese, baked beans and corn on the cob at the grill. In another area there was a small salad bar and deserts, fruit and drinks in another area. I thought the chicken was the best – fell right off the bone. After lunch, we decided to walk around the straw market a little and then headed back to the ship. I did try a Coco Loco before we boarded the tender. I’d heard about them but didn’t see what the big deal was.
