 Curacao

Mike Malone
We messed up and just went to the town and did nothing else. The town was in walking distance of the boat. There wasn’t much to do in town, other than shop, and we’d done that in St Thomas. I wish I had gone on an excursion. One thing that struck me was how organized and clean Curacao is. The Dutch influence is very strong here. The buildings are very Dutch but with Caribbean colors. They kept warning us how hot it was there. They were right as it was in the upper 80’s. Better than a summer day back home. It’s just off the coast of Venezuela so there is a large Spanish speaking population. It was still not a problem finding English speakers. Everyone was very reserved, you didn’t see ‘carnival barkers’ outside the shops trying to get you to come in (St Thomas and St Lucia). We bought 5 nice T Shirts for $13 from a vendor outside the dock area.
