This island was very lush and beautiful, but all the cool things to see (waterfalls, ie)are 2-3hrs roundtrip to see. We docked in Woodridge, just north of Roseau, and the shopping was just a little warehouse with flea-market tables selling the same crap for waaay too much. We didn't make it into Roseau, so we're not sure what the shopping there was like. Check it out. We didn't go on an excursion cuz we read on here they were too expensive, and too long, so we hired a private taxi with another couple for $20/pp to take us to the Emerald Pool and the Trafalgar Falls. We left at noon and by 300 we were just leaving the Emerald Pool! We didn't have time for the falls. But the Emerald Pool was amazing. You'll need $2.00 US to enter the rainforest it's in. Walk down for 10 mins or so and you find a beautiful waterfall and a super green pool at the base. Amazing swim and well worth the trip. I suggest leave for the Emerald Pool and Waterfalls via private taxi well before noon if you go, and don't settle for a fare more than $20/pp, get others to come so the guy'll be more willing. Overall, we were disappointed with Dominica. Everything's too far away, shopping was crap (might be good in Roseau), and it rained a lot.
