D. Rovinetti One thing everyone should know about this island is that nobody speaks a word of English. On this island, we decided to do our thing and not go on one of the ships excursions. We hooked up with our friends who we met on the ship the previous day who happen to be Mexican and speak Spanish fluently. We waited in the taxi line right off the port. When it was our turn for a taxi, we worked out a deal for $70 that included a van that would take us anywhere we wanted to go for 5 hours. Our driver ended up being this guy Antonio who didn’t speak a word of English but was like a chauffer-bodyguard. There was even a time that we were crossing the street and Antonio jumped in front of an oncoming scooter that was about to hit us! Well he brought us to a couple of shops in the middle of the city, which sold some very interesting products. He then brought us to a beach, which was very nice. While on the beach, we were approached by Julio who offered us a boat ride and snorkeling excursion for $25 for all four of us. We took him up on his offer and told him to come back in 1 hour. He came back and we went on an incredible boat ride throughout the bay. He then stopped in the middle of the bay where we went snorkeling in crystal clear water. It was my first time snorkeling and it was unbelievable. I don’t think that we would have had nearly as much fun if not for our friends Adrian and Marisela. They translated everything that needed to be translated and plus they were great fun. Ask a Question About a Caribbean Port
