Key West Port Information and Shore Excursion Review

Janet LeBlanc

Our shore excursion in Key West was SNUBA, and I cannot possibly rave enough about this excursion. I am the only certified scuba diver in the family, so this was sort of a compromise experiment to introduce the others to breathing underwater, and relaxing with the marine life in a way that is impossible with snorkeling. Our guide was named Steve (as in "Snuba Steve" – if there is more than one in this outfit, our Snuba Steve grew up in Gatlinburg, Tennessee), and he was top tier excellent – could not possibly have improved on a thing. One of our daughters can be a cranky customer when confronted with new situations (for which I apologize to the world!!!) but Snuba Steve was a master at dealing with her as well as the rest of my novice family. He had a great sense of humor, was thoroughly professional in his instruction and once in the water, he kept close tabs on everyone to make absolutely sure than everyone was okay at all times. I could not have asked for a more positive experience for each member of the family. The water was perfect, the fish were abundant, the coral was interesting, and we all felt like we got the best of the afternoon compared to most of the people out on the Fury Catamaran who were snorkeling 12 feet or so above us. To top it off, there was unlimited free coke and beer on the sailing cruise back to the ship. It does NOT get any better than this! :-)
