Daryl Burchardt We visited Jamaica on a Carnival Cruise and I was a little worried about Jamaica, having read many other reviews. We had booked a tour with Carolyn Barrett and we can not say enough about Carolyn and the great time that she provided for us. She met us inside the building where we got off the ship and loaded us into her van and we were off. We first went to the Rose Hall Plantation and learned the history of the home and grounds. It is said to be haunted by the spirits of Annie and her many victims. It’s a very entertaining story of all that went on at the plantation in former years. Carolyn ran the place when she first moved to Jamaica, so we got some extra info and stories from her. She then took us to Rose Hall beach. We were about the only ones there on this beautiful beach. It was the first time our kids had swam in the ocean and they had a blast. Carolyn then took us to an authentic local Jerk Chicken stand for lunch then to a small market where we shopped while my daughter got her hair braided. We then toured some of the countryside and saw how many of the people live and learned much about their lifestyle. Soon it was time to head back to the ship. She provided so much information on Jamaica and the surrounding area and because of her, we totally enjoyed Jamaica. The part of Jamaica that we saw was not scary at all and nobody hassled us. I cannot recommend Carolyn and her Barrett Adventures enough. If you are going to Jamaica for any reason, do yourself a favor and book something with barrettadventures.com.
