Montego Bay, Jamaica
Michael Scott
The first port we reached was Montego Bay. I would
suggest an excursion in this country. We went on the canopy tour and had an
absolute blast! It was by far our favorite part of the cruise. Slipping through
tree tops and over rivers was amazing, and our guides Dain and Netisha were very
informative, professional, and enjoyable to talk with. The constant activity
during the excursion made us feel like we got our money’s worth for the trip.
After the canopy tour, we were bussed back to the terminal and opted to share a
cab into town with some of the other people from the tour. We paired off with a
couple from Seattle and walked through the town to the different shops. I was
offered “ganja” (drugs) at least 3 times in a matter of 2 hours. And every cab
driver in the city wants you to get into their cab. The cab that dropped us off
had made arrangements to pick us up later in the same place, so we turned
everyone else down as we went. We stopped for a moment beside Margaritaville and
a woman sat down and started braiding my wife’s hair. We told her we only had a
dollar and she said she’d do a braid anyway for that. Crazy!
