Roatan, Honduras Port Information and Review

Bill Parkinson

We cruised in 2005, not 2004. The pick list for posting this review did not allow 2005. Our cruise ports were Cozumel, Roatan, Belize and Cancun. Roatan and Belize were our favorites. In Roatan we did a city tour with Bodden tours for $80 for the two of us. Victor Bodden was already booked so his brother George took us around the island. He wasn't overly talkative but pointed out the things of interest and was quick to answer any questions we had. Based on cruise board reviews, we bought vanilla at a grocery store for $1 per bottle, saw the ship wrecks, visited the Iguana farm and Yabba Ding Dings. We toured the whole island and there were several other stops with nice views. Yabba Ding Ding was a joke, don't waste your time, just shop in the flea market along the street right outside the port gate. There is also a store offering 30% off but that was still more than prices at the flea market and vendors around the island. Everywhere we stopped there were people selling wood bowls and souvenirs. Other than the flea market, we didn't wander off by ourselves but I felt perfectly safe everywhere we went.
