St. Maarten/St. Martin
George Ziegler
We
had also reserved a Van on this Island. Here we had a Mitsubishi Space
wagon reserved with Best car rental. It was only $60 for the day and they
are right off the pier to the right. My sister-In-Law is a big lover of
horses and she insisted we go horseback ridding. She had made arrangements
with Lucky Stables. I was a bit unsure of this excursion. I have not been
on a horse since I was a kid. Well we got there and they made it so easy.
It was great. The trail is rough and it goes up and down several hills,
but the views are panoramic and very beautiful. This is a must for anyone
fit enough to ride a horse, young or old. We booked a 2 hour ride and they
gave us almost a 3 hour ride. the terrain is covered in cactus and there
are millions upon millions of butterflies. there where even wild horse. At
the end of the ride we got to ride our horses into the Ocean. what fun
this was and probably the high light of our cruise.
I had expected to be really
sore but it really did not bother us much at all. After the ride we
stopped at Burger King for lunch and then headed back toward the pier for
some shopping. Best Car Rental let us park right in their gaited lot and
we walked right to front street for some shopping.
Did you know that as long
as you are buying they give you free beer. We shopped and drank the
afternoon away. There are great deals to be gotten in St Martin and I
highly recommend Majesty Jewelers. I think there are several good stores
there but we really liked that one the best. If you don't want to buy
anything but want to look and still drink beer they where offered
everywhere for $1. You can get pretty trashed cheep in St Martin. Well
after some shopping and drinking we drove back to the pier and dropped the
car off and walked back on the ship. and enjoyed the evening activities.
